More Than Medals
As part of wrestling’s commitment to advancing IOC Agenda 2020 we are focusing more on our athletes, with the support of International Olympic Committee Sports Department and Olympic Solidarity, to organize wrestling training camps for cadets. This age group is typically the period of highest attrition for young wrestlers and More than Medals aims to keep these athletes in wrestling and help them realise their full potential as wrestlers.
This project aims at providing long term sustainable development for cadets, coaches and national federations, increasing wrestling technical levels. Especially for small wrestling nations, this program provides an opportunity to identify and select appropriate NFs to propose for Youth Olympic Summer Games Universality Program.

United World Wrestling’s development initiative“More than Medals” cadet training program has won the "MBR Creative Sports Award" for best initiative for an International Summer Olympic International Federation in 2019.
Licences for Youth Athletes
To increase the investment in youth elite wrestlers and ensure that young talents keep receiving appropriate exposure internationally and gain competition experience, each year a limited number of cadet licences is offered to athletes who meet the criteria. Priority is given, in principle, to developing nations and smaller wrestling countries.
The member federations must send their official request to development@uww.org at least 5 weeks prior to the Cadet Continental Championships.
