ALMATY, Kazakhstan (June 10) -- Bolay Turlykhanov Cup in Almaty saw some of the biggest Greco-Roman stars in action. The field was highlighted by world and Olympic champion Mohammadreza GERAEI (IRI).

Iran did send a strong team but so did Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Turkey too had entered a few of their star wrestlers and ended up winning three gold medals.

55kg: GOLD - Marlan MUKASHEV (KAZ) vs. Poya DAD MARZ (IRI)

60kg: GOLD - Ali Reza NEJATI (IRI) vs. Pouya NASERPOUR (IRI)

63kg: GOLD - Kerem KAMAL (TUR) vs. Bagylan ZHAKANSHA (KAZ)

67kg: GOLD - Abror ATABAEV (UZB) vs. Joni KHETSURIANI (GEO)

UWW Academy launches new course on Takedown and Control

CORSIER-SUR-VEVEY, Switzerland (December 18) -- United World Wrestling has launched a new course for Takedown and Control that will replace the existing one. The course demonstrates various takedowns and controls that occur in wrestling.

The course will follow a similar format to the other rules courses under Programs for Referees. This course covers the specifics of what determines a takedown and control. There are video examples of several situations along with explanations for how each was scored. The participants will also have an opportunity to practice 10 situations before taking a quiz over the course.
