The International Network of Wrestling Researchers (INWR) will coordinate a Scientific Symposium Spetember 5th at the 2015 World Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas/ The event will be held in the Gold Room A of the Orleans Hotel and Arena. Working with USA Wrestling and the Scientific Commission of United World Wrestling, the symposium is entitled, “The Next Generation of Wrestlers in the Olympic Movement: Developing Youth, Women and Men for the Future!”  

The program will run from 8:45 AM to 3:45 PM and consist of three keynote lectures, six mini-lectures of 20 minutes each, a round table of champion wrestlers with audience participation, and 30 poster presentations.

“We are fortunate to have assembled a fantastic group of speakers," said Dr. David Curby, Director of the INWR and Secretary of the UWW Scientific Commission. "This is a tremendous opportunity for coaches, wrestling specialists and sport medical personnel to meet and interact with some of the foremost wrestling experts in the world.”  

Highlights of the Symposium include:

• The Rayko Petrov Honor Lecture for 2015 will be presented by: Professor Boris Podlivaev, Russian State University in Moscow and National Coaching Staff for Women. His lecture will be entitled: Women’s Wrestling-Some Observations from a Coach and Scientist.
• Dr. Carole Maître, a gynecologist and sport physician with the French National Institute of Sport, will give a talk entitled: Caring for the Female Wrestler: What her Coach Needs to Know
• Dr. Menia Gioftsidou and Dr. Ioannis Barbas-Democritus University of Thrace, Komotini, Greece: New Structures for Youth Wrestling – Wrestling Plus!  Safety, Fitness and Fun!

Other events will include demonstrations of Innovative Technologies in the Training of Wrestlers, Unique Analysis of Greco Roman Finals from European Games, Wrestling in Iran, and an Expert Round Table Discussion with World and Olympic Champions -Tricia Saunders, Momir Petkovic and Lee Kemp, and the presentation of the Young Investigator Award.

Registration: Participants can register on site on the morning of Saturday, September 5th, beginning at 8 AM. The registration requires membership in the INWR which will be available at the door for $40 USD.
