CORSIER-SUR-VEVEY (July 21) - United World Wrestling has announced a Call to Artists for "The Wrestler's Aesthetic" a feature art exhibit to be presented during the 2017 Senior Wrestling World Championships.

The exhibit will focus on artists who have subject matter dedicated to the nature of wrestling. Artisits interested in participating in this exhibit will have until August 4 to submit their works for consideration. Artists within the international wrestling community are encouraged submit their work for consideration into this year’s exhibit. Information regarding submission dates, and rules are listed below. Artists with selected works for this event do not need to be present in Paris for the World Championships. All selected artists will be recognized in the exhibit’s program.

THEME & SELECTION: "The Wrestler’s Esthetic"

The theme for this year’s show is wrestling in all forms and representations. The curators are looking for artwork that demonstrates the nature of wrestling in a wide array of forms; within daily life, vocations, celebrations, struggles and competitions. Wrestlers approach their environment in a unique way. Wrestlers seem to transcend the “modus operandi.” This exhibition aims to hallmark the variety of ways in which wrestling impacts the world we live in and diversity of wrestlers’ ways of life. Your submissions must align with such imagery, as iconic message, social commentary or deeply private statement.

Eligibility & Mediums: This competition is open to all artists/photographers 18 years of age or older. Submissions for consideration can be expressed in any of the following aspects: photo realism, realism, representational, expressionism, surrealism, or abstraction. Entries must be created in any still medium: painting, drawing, photography, digital art, prints, collage and graphic design. Artworks must be no larger than 36” x 36” and each submission must be able to hang.

• This exhibition is open to all artists 18 years of age or older. 
• The Work Must Be Original
• Upon selection into this year’s exhibition, artwork needs to be shipped to the designation location, which will be provided to all selected artists.
• You must be the creator of the art and image file you or your approved representative submit to the competition.
• Your art must be your own original concept and not a copy of anyone else's copyrighted material. (If your image infringes upon another's copyright it will be disqualified.)
• Upon submitting your work, to this competition, you are solely responsible for any infringement on copyrighted materials.

Entry Fees:

• This year’s entry fee is FREE for all submissions.

Repeat Entries:

• There is no restriction on entering art that has been entered to previous competitions.

Copyright:

• The artist retains all copyrights to their artwork without exception.

Non-Exclusive Permissions:

• By entering this art competition, you are granting us a non-exclusive perpetual license to reproduce images of your artwork on our website, affiliate organizing websites as well as in any publications for the marketing of the art exhibit to the general public. Artworks will not be used for any other purpose than that which is stated here. All entries will be displayed on the Wrestler’s Esthetic website. Each entry becomes part of the public, historical / archival online contest catalog. It can be removed at a later date upon request.

File Sizes and Formats:

• Your images are best represented at 1200px on the longest side and at a resolution of 300dpi.  The acceptable file formats are: jpg, gif, and png.

The Entry Process:

• Step 1. Submit digital images of your work, with a description of each submitted artwork, including, medium, size and title and an artist’s statement to jonnyruggiano@gmail.com
• Step 2. Artists will be notified by August 10, 2017 of approval into the Wrestler’s Esthetic exhibit.
• Step 3. Submission of proof of individual artwork insurances will need to be submitted by August 15, 2017.
• Step 4. All artwork must be delivered to the designated address (given after selection) by no later than August, 20, 2017.
• The artist will receive a confirmation email

Judging Criteria:

• Does the submitted artwork fit the theme of the competition? 
• Is there a creative interpretation of the subject/ theme? 
• Is the originality of the work interesting? 
• Is there overall quality and command of the medium being used? 
• Does the work impact the viewer in relationship to the theme? 
• Does the work stand on its own as a complete and outstanding creative image? 
• The composition and design of the work is also a judging criterion. 
• Note: The quality of the images submitted will also play a role in the judging process. It is best if the images submitted are no smaller than 600px.

Each Artist is welcome to submit a total of three works for consideration.
