RIO DE JANEIRO (August 16) – World and Olympic Games champions are scattered throughout the 66kg bracket, making winning the competition at lightweight an adventure and an ordeal on Day Three of the Greco-Roman events at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

World champion Frank STAEBLER (GER) will likely find 2014 world champion Davor STEFANEK (SRB) and London 2012 gold medalist Omid NOROOZI (IRI) lying in wait along his path to the championship final at Carioca Arena 2.

The bottom half of the bracket also has its perils as 2013 world champion RYU Han-Soo (KOR) meets London 2012 silver medalist Tamas LORINCZ (HUN) in their opening bout. The winner could face the European Games silver medalist Migran ARUTYUNYAN (ARM) in the quarterfinals.

The preliminary bouts at the very bottom of the bracket sees Beijing 2008 gold medalist Islambek ALBIEV (RUS) and reigning 71kg world champion Rasul CHUNAYEV (AZE) facing a possible showdown in the round of 16.

Chunayev is well-known for his celebratory dance after defeating Albiev for the 2013 World University Games crown. Albiev comes to Rio undefeated in 2016, with big wins at the Ivan Poddubny tourney and the European championships.

Wrestlers drew to a reasonably balanced bracket at 98kg with the two bronze medal winners in Las Vegas drawing to opposite sides of the bracket.

European Games champion Islam MAGOMEDOV (RUS) drew to the top half with two-time world champion Artur ALEKSANYAN (ARM) for a potential meeting in the semifinals.

European Games runner-up Dmitri TIMCHENKO (UKR) drew to the bottom of the bracket and will need three wins for a shot at London 2012 gold medalist and 2015 world runner-up Ghasem REZAEI (IRI).
