Wrap-Up: New York AC International

The United States took home 12 gold medals across the three styles of wrestling at last weekend’s annual New York Athletic Club International in New York City. Headlining the American effort in freestyle waas 74-kilo champion Frank Molinaro, who beat Alibeggediz Emeev of Russia 9-4 in the freestlye finals.
The Japanese took home four gold medals lead by their women’s squad who took three of those title. On the men’s side, Takeshi Izumi won the 66-kilo championships in Greco-Roman with a disqualification victory over Thrasher Porcher of the United States.
World University Games Samat Nadyrbek Uulu of Kyrgyzstan beat Omak Syuryun of Russia in the finals, 12-6 to earn his first NYAC title at 55-kilos.
Canada won two titles, while Russia, and Honduras each took a title a piece.
Wrestlers from the United States swept the “Outstanding Wrestler” awards with Alli Ragan (59-kilo) winning for women’s freestyle, while Frank Molinaro at 66-kilo won for men’s freestyle and Andy Bisek at 74-kilo took home the award in Greco-Roman.
