Congrès de l'UWW à Belgrade

BELGRADE, Serbie (le 9 septembre) -- United World Wrestling a accueilli son Congrès ordinaire vendredi 10 septembre en Serbie, un jour avant le Championnat du Monde de Belgrade.

M. Nenad Lalovic, Président d'UWW et membre du Comité exécutif du Comité international olympique, a ouvert ce Congrès pour lequel des représentants de 106 pays étaient présents.

Le Président du CIO, M. Thomas Bach, a adressé un message à l'audience demandant de rester uni et d'oeuvrer pour la solidarité olympique.

M. Lalovic, qui a assisté à 11 réunions de comités exécutifs au cours des 12 derniers mois, s'est fait écho de ces demandes lors de de son discours d'ouverture.

"Nous, comme sport, sommes perdants dans une telle situation [de conflit]," a déclaré M. Lalovic. "Notre famille n'est pas faite de politique mais de lutteurs et supporters. Ainsi nous devrions rester unis."

"Nos athlètes promeuvent la paix autour du monde. Nous avons eu des problèmes par le passé mais nous espérons que nos médailles brilleront justement."

L'assistance a repecté une minute de silence en signe de deuil pour les décès des membres du bureau Messieurs Lucio Caneva et François Carrard.

Le Congrès a discuté de l'amélioration de la lutte par l'engagement de la jeunesse, de la lutte féminine, des styles associés, de l'image de la lutte et de la transformation digitale. Les rapports des différents départements de l'UWW ont été présentés durant le Congrès..

Sept membres du Bureau ont été élus pour un mandat de cinq ans. 122 votes ont été exprimés au total, avec une majorité à 61.

Quatre personnes ont été réélues : Theodoros Hamakos, Karl-Martin Dittmann, Rodika Yaksi et Namig Aliyev. Trois membres sont élus pour la première fois : Daniel Igali (NGR), Razvan Pircalabu (ROU) et Zhang Ye (CHN).

Le Congrès a insisté sur le fait que, pour que l'UWW continue a être autonome, un développement général est nécessaire, incluant plus de sponsors et un déploiement  de la lutte aux niveaux régionaux et locaux.

La Russie remporte deux médailles d'or en lutte féminine aux Championnats d'Europe U23

La Russie a remporté deux médailles d'or en lutte féminine aux Championnats d'Europe U23 d'United World Wrestling à Ruse aujourd'hui.

Natalia Malshyeva était au top de sa forme à 53 kg et s'est facilement qualifiée pour les finales, ou elle a battu sans difficulté Lilya Horishna 11-0.

Mercedesz Denes et Leyla Gurbanova ont également facilement remporté deux médailles de bronze face à Iulia Leorda et Sandra Sofia Sarkkinen respectivement.

Anzhela Fomenko a remporté la deuxième médaille d'or pour la Russie à 63 kg en battant Adela Hanzlickova 11-0 par supériorité technique.

Asli Tugcu (TUR) a remporté le bronze face à la roumaine Alexandra Nicoleta . Solomiya Volska  (UKR) a battu Madzina Sidakova (Biélorussie) et a remporté la seconde médaille de bronze.

Azerbaijan win two gold medals in men's freestyle at UWW Under-23 European Championships

Azerbaijan secured two gold medals on the penultimate day at the United World Wrestling (UWW) Under-23 European Championships as men’s freestyle action came to the fore at the Bulstrad Arena in Ruse.

The country, which has a rich tradition in the sport, had topped the podium just once over the two days of women’s freestyle action in the Bulgarian city.

Mirjalal Hasan-Zada got his country off to the best possible start today, though, earning a hard-fought 7-4 victory over Baris Kaya of Turkey in the final of the 57 kilogram division.

Bronze medals in the category went the way of Russia’s Ibragim Ilyasov and Moldovan Ivan Zamfirov after they overcame the challenges of Bulgaria's Mehmed Zeyti Feraim and Ukraine's Taras Markovych respectively.

Azerbaijan then picked up their second crown of the day thanks to Nurmagomed Gadzhiyev, who stormed to a rampant success in his 97kg gold medal bout with Poland’s Mateusz Filipczak.

Gadzhiyev dominated the contest from start to finish, sealing victory in style with an 11-0 technical fall win.

Russia's Zaynulla Kurbanov cruised to the first bronze medal, beating Ukraine’s Murazi Mchedlidze, and Georgian Givi Matcharashvili defeated Alexios Kaouslidis of Cyprus to take the other.

Hat-trick of gold medals for Russia as Under-23 European Wrestling Championships conclude

Russia sealed a hat-trick of men’s freestyle gold medals with a commanding display as the United World Wrestling (UWW) Under-23 European Championships drew to a close tonight at the Bulstrad Arena in Ruse.

Imam Adzhiev got the wrestling powerhouse off to the best possible start, claiming the 61 kilograms title with a technical fall success in the final against home hope Dimitar Lyubomirov Ivanov.

Azerbaijan, in superb form yesterday as their wrestlers picked up two gold medals, earned the first bronze thanks to Zalimkhan Valiyev, who beat Ukraine's Vadym Dukhno.

The other medal in the category went to Georgia’s Shota Phartenadze after he thrashed Mihai Esanu of Moldova.

The gold medal bout in the 70kg weight class proved to be an intriguing affair and provided Russia’s second crown as Rasul Arsanaliev edged Azerbaijan's Gadzhimurad Omarov 11-9 in a high-scoring contest.

Muhammet Akdeniz of Turkey and Georgia's Davit Buziashvili sealed the bronze medals on offer with victories over Frenchman Johnny Just Bur and Vasyl Mykhailov of the Ukraine respectively.
